OtherSide Wouldn't Want to Publish System Shock 3

Studio OtherSide Entertainment is currently communicating with interested publishing partners in the hope that one of them will release System Shock 3. Recall that the deal with Starbreeze Studios was canceled due to the financial situation of the latter.

The Swedish company Starbreeze Studios is currently located in difficult situation. In an attempt to cut costs, she sold publishing rights to System Shock 3 to game developer OtherSide Entertainment. Since then, the development studio and its creative director Warren Spector have been looking for someone to help bring the sci-fi sequel to life.

Speaking to VideoGamesChronicle, Spector said that discussions to sell the rights to publish System Shock 3 are going smoothly. “We are talking with many partners, and we have a lot of interested ones. No deal yet, but fortunately OtherSide is rich enough that we fund ourselves and can continue to do so for quite some time. Let's see what happens," he said.

While Spector says OtherSide Entertainment has the money, self-publishing System Shock 3 isn't very appealing to the studio. “The reality is that OtherSide is a company of developers who want to make games,” Spector said. We don't really want to be a publisher. Paul Neurath and I used to work with publishers, self-publish at Origin when I was there, and we don't want to get into the distribution market. […] I think it will be a big distraction. To do this, we will have to hire staff, because now we have no experience. I hope we don't do this. If we do that, we'll be in trouble."
