Showtime has announced that Pablo Schreiber will play Master Chief in the upcoming Halo series.
Pablo Schreiber played in such series as American Gods, On the Edge, Orange Is the New New Black, Gifted, In Sight and many others. He will now take on the role of the Spartan Master Chief. In other news, Showtime has also hired Australian actress Yerin Ha. She will keep Schreiber company as "a shrewd, cocky 16-year-old from the Outer Colonies who meets the Master Chief at a fateful moment for both."
In Showtime's Halo, the story will follow the story told in the games and focus on the war between humans and the Covenant over colossal rings (those Halos) that serve as weapons of mass destruction. After a series of delays, production on the series will begin this fall in Budapest, Hungary.
The Halo series was in 2013. The series has since lost director Rupert Wyatt (Rise on the Planet of the Apes). He was replaced by Otto Bathurst (Peaky Blinders). In addition, development studio 343 Industries is working with Steven Spielberg's Amblin Television as a consultant.
