The joint venture agreement between Panasonic and GS Solar was signed in mid-May last year. In the new joint venture, the Chinese company was supposed to own 90% of the shares, and Panasonic - 10%. Both companies produce solar panels on cells of the same type - with heterojunction, which combine photovoltaic cells based on amorphous and single-crystal silicon. This gives them properties such as high conversion efficiency and resistance to temperature fluctuations.
The joint venture between Panasonic and GS Solar was to be located in Japan, and its production base was to be Panasonic's Malaysian plant or Panasonic Energy Malaysia. As Panasonic reports today, GS Solar has not fulfilled the agreements stipulated by last year's agreement. Moreover, the Japanese even made a discount on the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus pandemic, but they did not wait for a proper reaction from the Chinese side.
