The long-awaited (since last fall) release of a decentralized video hosting network PeerTube v3.
PeerTube is a free alternative YouTube, where anyone can deploy their own server - both private and part of a shared network (fediverse). This can significantly increase the resistance of the network to censorship.
Key features of this release:
- live streaming
- menu redesign
- interface for managing comments to videos for admins
- new filtering API
Of the non-technical features of the release, it is worth noting that this version was partially funded through fundraising after the publication of development plans. In particular global search https://sepiasearch.org/ on public servers, PeerTube became available thanks to the support of interested users.
