The US military is testing unmanned aerial vehicles that can be used to transport supplies over long distances and discarded without regret after the mission is completed.
The larger version of the two tested drones, made from cheap plywood, can carry more than 700 kg of cargo. According to the IEE Spectrum magazine, scientists from Logistic Gliders said that their gliders have just successfully passed a series of tests with the US Marine Corps.
If a mass production permit is granted, the LG-1K drone and its larger counterpart, the LG-2K, will cost only a few hundred US dollars each.
