Google has unveiled the first beta version of the Android 14 open mobile platform. Android 14 is expected to be released in the third quarter of 2023. To evaluate the new features of the platform, a preliminary testing program has been proposed. Changes in Android 14 Beta 1 compared to Developer Preview 2:
- When working with applications, a more prominent back arrow tooltip has been implemented to make it easier to understand the possibility of using the on-screen gesture to go back.
- The Sharesheet mechanism, which is used to send data (such as an image or a link) outside the application or to another user, has the ability to add your own actions. For example, you can define your own list of ChooserAction handlers that show the applications and users that can be sent to. Additionally, the range of signals used for ranging targets for direct data sending has been expanded.
- The Path class, which allows you to create vector graphics based on compound geometric paths, has been added to support interpolation between paths with a similar structure to create a morphing effect and use the PathIterator to iterate through all path segments in sequence.
- Expanded the ability to bind individual language settings to different applications. Provided the ability to define a list of languages ββthat will be displayed in the Android configurator when selecting a language for a specific application.
