Developers from the independent French studio Motion Twin - the first paid addition to last year's hardcore action platformer .
Unlike previous updates, The Bad Seed will be paid and will cost $ 5 (the cost for the Russian region is not specified). The DLC is slated for release in the first quarter of 2020 for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch.
The add-on will add two locations to Dead Cells ("Arboretum" and "Swamp") and a boss, which is conceived as an alternative . The DLC is designed for the very beginning of the passage - new territories are located immediately behind the starting zone.
As for equipment, with the release of The Bad Seed, Dead Cells will have unique types of weapons, one of which - an impressive scythe - for the first time in the history of an action platformer, will occupy two inventory slots at once.
On the the authors explained why the DLC will be paid: additional funds are required to further support Dead Cells and develop the studio's next project.

The release of The Bad Seed also does not mean that the developers will stop releasing free updates: additional content, balance and system changes will continue to be released at the "same steady pace and with the same quality as in 2019."
Dead Cells was released on August 7, 2018 for PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. Since then, Motion Twin has released 15 updates as well as , which was free for all owners of the game.
