The first 5G network in Britain will be deployed by EE, starting May 30

Formerly Vodafone reported, which will launch the UK's first 3G network on July 5rd. However, many assumed that EE, the largest 4G operator in the country, could well get ahead of the company. And they turned out to be right - at an event held today in London, EE announced that it would deploy its network on May 30, ahead of its competitor by a month. UK carriers Three and O2 are also expected to roll out their 5G networks this year, but exact dates have yet to be announced.

For starters, the network will be available in just six cities: Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Manchester and, of course, London. Glasgow and Liverpool previously included in this list, while they have fallen out - however, by the end of the year, the company promises to expand the presence of 5G to 19 cities and 1500 objects by the end of the year. EE CEO Marc Allera promised that EE 5G customers can expect average download speeds of 156 Mbps. The 5G network, of course, at first will only complement 4G.

EE is already accepting pre-orders for the first 5G phones from today. We are talking about the Galaxy S10 5G, Oppo Reno 5G, LG V50 ThinQ and One Plus 7 Pro 5G. In addition, according to the company, its next-generation networks will be compatible with smartphones such as Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 5G, Huawei Mate 20 X 5G and Huawei Mate X, as well as the HTC 5G Hub home hotspot.

Finally, the company, along with WB Games San Francisco and Niantic, became the exclusive telecommunications partner for the UK launch of the augmented reality game Harry Potter: Wizards Unite.
