HTC CEO Yves Maitre spoke about the company's business development plans for the current year: fifth-generation mobile communications technologies (5G) and virtual reality (VR) systems will become priorities.
In particular, by the end of 2020, the Taiwanese HTC, which is going through hard times, intends to release its first 5G smartphone. Details about the device, alas, are not yet disclosed.
At the same time, it was said that NTS plans to work closely with Qualcomm. This means that the first 5G HTC smartphones will most likely use the Snapdragon hardware platform.
As for the VR direction, the company intends to develop both hardware solutions and related software. In addition, augmented and, possibly, mixed reality devices will be designed.
In general, NTS is betting on 5G and VR: these areas are expected to help the company overcome the financial crisis. Currently, sales of HTC smartphones are very small, and blockchain technology development projects do not bring much results.
