First gameplay trailer for Star Wars: Vader Immortal on the planet Mustafar

Now Chicago is hosting the traditional Star Wars Celebration event, where fans have prepared a lot of announcements related to the Star Wars universe. For example, yesterday the public could get acquainted with the first video of the IX episode of the film saga, which received the subtitle "The Rise of Skywalker" and promised the return of Emperor Palpatine. Among the smaller news is the new trailer for Star Wars: Vader Immortal, which we wrote about last September.

Lucasfilm-owned ILMxLAB has this time released gameplay footage of a curious VR project it's working on in conjunction with Oculus VR. The game, officially titled Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series - Episode I, will be the first of three episodes featuring a new story written by David S. Goyer and revolving around Darth Vader.

Players will take on the role of a smuggler who has emerged from hyperspace near the planet Mustafar, where he will have to come into conflict with the dark lord of the Sith himself. And while the details of this conflict aren't entirely clear yet, it seems players will be able to use a lightsaber and possibly even duel with Vader.

From a gameplay standpoint, it's clear that ILMxLAB's creation is not just a VR movie. This is fully interactive entertainment, as seen in the episode when the player climbs the wall of the citadel by grabbing ledges and pipes. The main storyline is said to take between 45 minutes and an hour to complete, but the game will also feature a separate Lightsaber Dojo mode.

ILMxLAB has announced that American actress Maya Rudolph will play the role of a companion droid named ZOE3, who will accompany the protagonist on his journey. Actor Scott Lawrence, who previously voiced Darth Vader in many games, is also on the team and will once again give his voice to the dark character.
