At least six launches of Proton-M missiles are planned for 2019. At the same time, the first launch of this carrier from the Baikonur Cosmodrome this year will take place in May, as reported by the RIA Novosti online publication.

The Proton rocket was developed by the Khrunichev Center in the 60s. Launches are carried out from the Baikonur Cosmodrome, which is located outside the Russian Federation.

In the near future, the rocket will be used to launch the Blagovest satellite into space in the interests of the Russian Defense Ministry. The device is designed for high-speed data transmission, TV and radio programs, telephone and video conferencing, access to the global computer network.

β€œThe launch of the Proton-M launch vehicle with the Breeze-M upper stage and the Blagovest satellite from the Baikonur Cosmodrome is scheduled for May 23,” informed persons said.

It should be noted that the operation of the Proton-M launch vehicles will be completed in 2025. In the future, they will be replaced by modern Angara carriers of various classes.

By the way, it was said earlier that the last launch of a Russian military satellite from the Baikonur cosmodrome will take place in 2019, after which all launches of spacecraft in the interests of the Russian Ministry of Defense will be carried out from the Plesetsk cosmodrome in the Arkhangelsk region.
