Pine64 community, recently announced production of the free PinePhone smartphone, presents its new project - the PineTime smart watch.
The main features of the watch:
- Heart rate monitoring.
- A capacious battery that lasts for several days.
- Desktop docking station for charging the watch.
- Housing made of zinc alloy and plastic.
- Availability of WiFi and Bluetooth.
- Nordic nRF52832 ARM Cortex-M4F chip (at 64MHz) with support for Bluetooth 5, Bluetooth Mesh, proprietary ANT stack at 2,4 GHz and NFC-A.
- The exact specifications of RAM and Flash memory have not yet been confirmed, but most likely it is 64KB SRAM and 512KB Flash.
- Touch screen 1.3" 240Γ240 IPS LCD.
- Built-in vibration for notifications.
Estimated price is only $25.
As the main operating system, it is proposed to use the "real-time OS" with open source - FreeRTOS. There are also plans to adapt ARM MBED. But the community will have the opportunity to adapt other well-known systems for smart watches.
According to Pine64: "We will allow the community and developers to develop the project in the right direction."
