Platinum Games Senior Vice President Hideki Kamiya conversation with Gematsu representatives commented on the situation at PAX East 2020. According to the game designer, it's all about the money.

“This is a very expensive procedure and we cannot do it on our own. I don’t want to say that this will never happen: if everything works out, and we have enough money at our disposal, then [an Xbox One release] is possible, ”said Kamiya.

As the developer explained, this situation has developed as a result of significant differences between the Wii U, where The Wonderful 101 originally came out, and modern consoles. This made the porting process very time consuming (and costly).

Platinum Games Executive Vice President Atsushi Inaba also admitted that the lion's share of the funds raised through the Kickstarter campaign will go not to the game itself, but to the production of physical rewards for contributors.

The rest of the amount will be spent on additional content and the transfer of The Wonderful 101 to new platforms: by the time of publication of the material, players have already financed the appearance in the project of the bonus mission "Luke's First Task" and a remix of the soundtrack.

Reissue of The Wonderful 101 will go on sale for PC (Steam), PS4 and Nintendo Switch on May 22. In addition to slightly modernized graphics, the new version will also differ from the original in greater friendliness towards the players.
