GIGABYTE Boards Based on Intel 400 Series Chipsets Pass ECE Certification

Motherboard manufacturers have long been unable to hide the fact that they are preparing new products for Intel Comet Lake-S processors in the LGA 1200 version. The question of the timing of the appearance of new processors and boards on sale is still open, but the corresponding products are already undergoing certification. The other day, for example, GIGABYTE Technology registered with the customs EEC database several models of new generation motherboards at once.

The most frequently mentioned chipset is the Intel Z490, which is destined for the role of the flagship of the new family. Based on it, GIGABYTE will create several models of motherboards in the AORUS series, including a variant with an integrated water block (Z490 AORUS Master WaterForce). It is unlikely that Comet Lake-S processors, even in a ten-core configuration, will be in dire need of liquid cooling, but GIGABYTE certainly does not want to miss the chance to attract the attention of enthusiasts and overclockers.

The W480 Designare ECC motherboard, as the name suggests, will be aimed at creative professionals, and will certainly offer support for ECC memory. It is still difficult to judge which processors will be installed in it. In passing, we note that motherboards based on chipsets have been registered in the EEC database Intel B450 and H470, and this allows us to talk about a fairly wide range of Comet Lake-S models presented, which will not be limited to expensive processors. According to various sources, the announcement of Comet Lake-S processors and related Intel chipsets may take place in February or April next year.
