An unofficial build of LineageOS 19.0 (Android 12) for Raspberry Pi 4 has been prepared

For Raspberry Pi 4 Model B and Compute Module 4 boards with 2, 4 or 8 GB of RAM, as well as for the Raspberry Pi 400 monoblock, an unofficial build of the LineageOS 19.0 experimental firmware branch based on the Android 12 platform has been formed. The source code of the firmware is distributed on GitHub. You can install the OpenGApps package for Google services and applications to work, but its correct operation is not guaranteed, since Android 12 support in OpenGApps is still under development.

The assemblies support graphics acceleration (V3D, OpenGL, Vulkan, the latest release of Mesa 21.2.5 is integrated), sound subsystem (Audio DAC, output via HDMI, 3.5mm, USB, bluetooth), Bluetooth, Wifi (including in access point mode ), GPIO, GPS (via external U-Blox 7 USB module), Ethernet, HDMI, I2C, sensors (accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, temperature, pressure, humidity), SPI, touchscreen control, USB (keyboard, mouse , drives), USB-C (ADB, MTP, PTP, USB tethering). So far, there is no support for the camera and hardware video encoding / decoding.

Separately, we can note the update of the Android 11 environment for various models of Orange Pi, Raspberry Pi 4 boards, Pinephone phone and Pinetab tablet, developed by the GloDroid project. The GloDroid edition is based on the Android 11 mobile platform code from the AOSP (Android Open Source Project) repository and focuses on support for devices based on Allwinner processors and Broadcom platforms. The project tries to stick to the original Android version available in the AOSP repository as much as possible and uses only open source drivers, including GPU and VPU drivers. Ready-made builds based on the new release of GloDroid 0.7 are still in the process of being formed, but all the components necessary for self-assembly are available.
