KAMAZ announced the start of commercial operation of an intelligent transport and information system β the ITIS-KAMAZ platform.
We are talking about bringing connected KAMAZ vehicles to Russian roads with support for mobile communications. The project is being implemented jointly with VimpelCom (Beeline brand).
The concept of connected vehicles (Connected Car) uses the Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) model. It provides for the exchange of information between vehicles, other road users and infrastructure. Plus, the cars will be able to be in constant contact with the automaker's ecosystem of support services.
KAMAZ vehicles will be equipped with an on-board information system with access to multimedia services. For KAMAZ vehicles of the new generation K5, remote interaction will become possible: this is a remote start of the heater, monitoring the state of vehicle systems, etc.
The new platform will help drivers stay on course. Motorists will be able to stay in touch with colleagues and family, as well as download multimedia content wirelessly.
The on-board complex is integrated with a system of satellite monitoring of transport, which makes it possible to increase the efficiency of the fleet by 20%. This is possible by reducing fuel costs, driving quality control and evaluating the parameters of vehicles.
