The Government of the Russian Federation, the Rostec State Corporation and Rostelecom have entered into a trilateral agreement to develop fifth-generation (5G) mobile communication technologies in our country.
Within the framework of cooperation, a Roadmap will be developed, which Rostec and Rostelecom will present to the Government. The goals of the initiative are: the development of fifth-generation communication technologies, the creation of solutions based on them and the development of the market for domestic 5G equipment.
As part of the Roadmap project, Rostec State Corporation will develop sections related to the development of domestic technologies and equipment, promotion of domestic solutions to the market, market formation and stimulation of demand for domestic solutions and equipment.
In turn, Rostelecom will be responsible for the sections related to the deployment of infrastructure for the implementation of fifth-generation mobile communication networks, mainly using domestic solutions and technologies, as well as market formation and stimulating demand for services and services based on 5G.
In addition, Rostelecom and Rostec will jointly develop sections of the Roadmap relating to the provision of fifth generation mobile communication networks with frequencies, functional and technical requirements for equipment and software.
It is expected that in the future, fifth generation networks will become the basis for the widespread implementation of the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, big data, self-driving transport, etc.
