AMD B550 Midrange Chipset Confirmed

Very soon, on May 27, AMD will present its new Ryzen 2019 desktop processors built on the Zen 3000 architecture at Computex 2. At the same exhibition, motherboard manufacturers will present their new products on the older AMD X570 chipset. But, of course, he will not be the only one in the five hundredth series, and now this has been confirmed.

AMD B550 Midrange Chipset Confirmed

SiSoftware's Benchmark Database found an entry for testing a Ryzen 5 3400G APU on an AMD B550 motherboard. The test entry mentions a B550A4-EM motherboard from the German computer manufacturer Medion. Note that this is the first mention of the AMD B550 system logic, while earlier there was information only about the older X570 chipset.

Details on the characteristics of the AMD B550 chipset are not yet available. Apparently, it will underlie mid-range motherboards, like the current B450 and the B350 that preceded it. The new chipset should retain support for overclocking processors, and its key difference from current solutions will be full support for the new PCI Express 4.0 interface. Actually, this will be the main feature of all 500-series chipsets.

AMD B550 Midrange Chipset Confirmed

Presumably, the AMD B550 chipset will be introduced a little later, in the second half of 2019. It is also possible that AMD will introduce another new chipset, the A520, which will replace the current A320 in the most budget Socket AM4 motherboards.
