Two years ago, self-driving technology company Waymo, a spin-off from Google, announced a partnership agreement with San Francisco-based taxi service Lyft.
Waymo has shared new details of a partnership with Lyft that will see the service provide 10 self-driving cars over the next few months to provide transportation services in Phoenix. Lyft users will be able to book a ride on such a car in the app of the same name.
In this region, Waymo One already operates a service for transporting passengers using self-driving cars, launched by Waymo six months ago. More than 1000 customers currently use Waymo One for commuting to and from work, shopping, and sending their kids to school, the company says.
