The first engineering sample of the Elbrus-16C microprocessor was received

The new Elbrus architecture processor has the following characteristics:

  • 16 cores
  • 16 nm
  • 2 GHz
  • 8 channels of DDR4-3200 ECC memory
  • Ethernet 10 and 2.5 Gbps
  • 32 PCIe 3.0 lanes
  • 4 channels SATA 3.0
  • up to 4 processors in NUMA
  • up to 16 TB in NUMA
  • 12 billion transistors

On the sample, it was already possible to launch the Elbrus OS on the Linux kernel. Serial production is expected at the end of 2021.

Elbrus is a Russian processor with its own architecture based on a wide instruction word (VLIW). Elbrus-16C is a representative of the sixth generation of this architecture, including the addition of hardware support for virtualization.
