Canon has officially unveiled the RF 85mm F1.2 L USM lens for the EOS R and EOS RP full-frame mirrorless cameras.
The novelty is intended primarily for portrait photography, as well as for street photography and shooting in low light conditions. The design includes 13 elements in 9 groups, including one aspherical lens and one extra-low dispersion (UD) element.
The lens uses a special Air Sphere Coating (ASC) to prevent flare, ghosting and reduced contrast when shooting in bright light.
The ultrasonic drive (USM) ensures fast and virtually silent operation. Protected against moisture and dust.
The main characteristics of the lens are as follows:
- Construction: 13 elements in 9 groups;
- Focal length: 85 mm;
- Number of aperture blades: 9;
- Minimum focusing distance: 0,85 m;
- Maximum aperture: f/1,2;
- Minimum aperture: f/16;
- Filter size: 82mm;
- Dimensions: 103,2 × 117,3 mm;
- Weight: 1195
The Canon RF 85mm F1.2 L USM will go on sale in June for an estimated price of $2700.
