After the release of new gaming consoles, demand for NVIDIA Turing graphics cards will also increase

Very soon, according to NVIDIA's hints on social networks, the company will introduce new gaming graphics cards with the Ampere architecture. The range of Turing graphics solutions will be reduced, the supply of individual models will cease. The release of new game consoles from Sony and Microsoft, according to Bank of America analysts, will spur demand not only for new Ampere video cards, but also for more mature Turing.

After the release of new gaming consoles, demand for NVIDIA Turing graphics cards will also increase

This time representatives of Bank of America Securities operate publicly available data - Steam statistics, according to which half of the users of this system are satisfied with the graphic solutions of the Pascal generation, which debuted in 2016, far by industry standards. No more than 10% of video cards used by Steam customers are capable of demonstrating performance comparable to the new game consoles from Sony and Microsoft on AMD components. Since game developers will focus on the hardware configuration of new consoles, fans of the PC platform will have to adapt to new hardware requirements.

In other words, almost 90% of Steam's customer base will want to upgrade their own graphics cards when new consoles are released. This will increase demand not only for NVIDIA's latest and more expensive Ampere family graphics cards, but also for their predecessors in the Turing family. Now, three-quarters of Steam customers prefer NVIDIA products, although you need to trust the statistics with reservations, since the influence of Chinese Internet cafes on them leads to significant distortions of the picture.

Bank of America analysts indicate and another strong side of NVIDIA's business - server components, the demand for which is still quite high. The company is let down only by sales of automotive components and professional graphic solutions for visualization, but these phenomena are either seasonal or triggered by a pandemic that will end sooner or later. The authors of the analytical note raise the forecast for NVIDIA's share price from $460 to $520, while the current value is about $446.
