After a protracted war with Nicalis, Ludosity is bringing Ittle Dew 2+ back to Nintendo eShop

Ludosity has announced that Ittle Dew 2+ will be returning to Nintendo eShop next week. The game was removed from the digital platform because Nicalis lost the rights to it.

On March 19, Ludosity itself will re-release Ittle Dew 2+ on the Nintendo Switch. News of the game's problems first surfaced last September, when Ludosity CEO Joel NystrΓΆm announced that Nicalis' publishing license had been revoked, after the company had breached a contract six months earlier.

Nicalis agreed to hand over Ittle Dew 2+ positions on Xbox Live, PlayStation Store, and Nintendo eShop, but it took a very long time to do so. NystrΓΆm accused the publisher of ignoring Ludosity for several weeks before removing Ittle Dew 2+ from all console stores entirely.

Getting Ittle Dew 2+ back on the court takes time. NystrΓΆm said that Ludosity had the rights to publish the game since Nicalis breached the contract, but it had to be done right.

β€œThe challenge was to ensure a smooth transition for players and to transfer ownership of the game to us in the eShop,” he said. β€œWhile we had the ability to withdraw the Nicalis position from day one and release our own, we wanted to bring the same position into our ownership so that we could, for example, provide updates to a game that people bought at release. However, the transfer requires the consent of Nicalis. And she just didn't bother to answer emails."

NystrΓΆm also added that Nintendo and other third party partners were "very kind and helpful" in this situation.

Last fall, a number of Nicalis developers and employees told about problems within the company: sudden terminations of business relations without warning, racism, anti-Semitism and homophobia of the president of the publishing house, Tyrone Rodriguez (Tyrone Rodriguez).

Ittle Dew 2+ has yet to be returned to Xbox Live and PlayStation Store. And in Steam the game did not disappear - Ludosity itself publishes it there.
