Company International Data Corporation (IDC) published statistics on the global market for tablet computers in the first quarter of this year.
Shipments of tablets for the three-month period amounted to 24,6 million pieces. This is an 18,1% decrease compared to the first quarter of 2019, when shipments were 30,1 million units.
The market leader is Apple. In three months, this company sold 6,9 million gadgets, occupying approximately 28,0% of the global market.
Samsung is in second place, with the South Korean manufacturer shipping 5,0 million tablets during the quarter, gaining a 20,2% share.
Huawei closes the top three with 3,0 million shipped tablet computers and a share of 12,0%.
Analysts at IDC note that the new coronavirus had a serious impact on the global tablet market. Due to the pandemic, people around the world are forced to self-isolate, which leads to a reduction in the demand for electronic devices.
According to the latest statistics, 3,22 million people have been diagnosed with coronavirus. The number of deaths has exceeded 228. In Russia, the disease has been detected in 100 people.
