Atari VCS retro consoles to ship in mid-June

The campaign, which was launched by the developers of the Atari VCS retro console on the Indiegogo crowdfunding platform about two years ago, has reached the finish line. It was announced that the first customers who pre-ordered will receive the console by the middle of this month.

Atari VCS retro consoles to ship in mid-June

According to reports, the first 500 Atari VCSs will roll off the assembly line by mid-June and be shipped to customers. The delay in production was due to the fact that some parts of the console turned out to be defective, and they had to be re-manufactured. Recall that during the campaign to raise funds for the launch of serial production of the retro console, the developers managed to attract the attention of more than 11 buyers who have placed pre-orders and are waiting for the device to be delivered to them.

Like many other companies, the Atari VCS development team has been working remotely since March, which has made it difficult to test prototype consoles. The developers note that members of the test group received copies of the console and related accessories recently. They are currently actively testing the console, and the developers are collecting feedback through surveys and virtual meetings, which, as noted, is largely positive. Testers not only had access to a selection of classic Atari games, but also to third-party titles and streaming services such as Netflix and Disney+.

Atari VCS developers are expected to announce full information about the console itself, the list of supported games and other features of the device soon.
