Google will make coronavirus-related posts significantly more prominent in search results. The tech giant has introduced a way for websites to highlight posts so Google search users can view information about the coronavirus without ever clicking on a link.
Currently, health and government websites can create such announcements. New types of messages can be used to quickly communicate important information about the coronavirus that may affect everyday life to the general public. The new type of ads visually look like a short summary that can be expanded directly into the search results to see more details.
Organizations are encouraged to use SpecialAnnounce structured data on their website pages. Adding structured data allows you to describe information about a page, as well as classify the content posted on it. SpecialAnnounce can be used by organizations that publish important announcements, for example, those related to the closure of educational institutions or the metro, giving recommendations on quarantine, providing data on changes in traffic movement or the introduction of any restrictions, etc. It is noted that for now the function will not be able to use sites that are not related to healthcare or government agencies, but this may change in the future.
