All smartphones and tablets produced after January 1 and sold in Russia must be pre-installed with 16 domestic applications, three on computers, and four on Smart TVs. This requirement was approved by the Russian government.
The published document states that from January 1, 2021, manufacturers of smartphones, tablets and other “wireless communications equipment for household use” with a touch screen and “two or more functions” will be required to pre-install Russian software, as well as for desktop computers, laptops, system units and TVs with Smart TV function.
The most classes of programs should be pre-installed on smartphones and tablets:
- browsers;
- search engines;
- antiviruses;
- application of the payment service "Mir";
For computers, pre-installation of a Russian browser, office software and antivirus will be required, for Smart TV - a browser, search engine, social network and audiovisual service.
