In a future release and current beta versions of the Linux 5.4 kernel
Now
The code is already available in the PPA for Ubuntu, and for other distributions it can be built from source. Linux kernels are supported from 3.4 up to 5.3-rc on all current platforms. Their list includes x86 (i386), x86_64 (amd64), ARM32 (AArch32) and ARM64 (AArch64). The developer has already suggested adding the driver to the master branch to replace the old version.
It is also noted that the driver is faster than the version from Microsoft. Thus, we can expect the appearance of an updated exFAT driver, although so far there is no exact data on the timing of the transfer of development to the main branch.
Recall that exFAT is a proprietary version of the file system that first appeared in Windows Embedded CE 6.0. The system is designed for flash drives.
