As part of the Google I / O event, the American Internet giant officially revealed all the details about the Pixel 3a and 3a XL models. However, one question still remains. It's about whether this story will continue, or the situation with the iPhone SE will repeat itself, the second generation of which never saw the light of day.
Shortly before the announcement of new products, the editor-in-chief of the English-language Internet resource Android Police talked with representatives of the Pixel 3a family development team, and they confirmed that the premiere was not a one-time event. The release of "light" versions of flagships is planned to be made regular, presumably annually.
True, in the future we should expect more differences in the characteristics of the flagship devices and their versions with the letter βaβ. It is unlikely that Google will be profitable to offer phones at half the price if many of their specifications are similar to those of older brothers released a few months earlier. For example, if representatives of the Pixel 4 series receive a multi-module rear camera and a fingerprint scanner in the display, then Pixel 4a may remain with a single main photo module and a classic fingerprint sensor on the rear panel.
Recall that, despite the almost twofold difference in cost, the Pixel 3a inherited many features from the Pixel 3. This is most noticeable in the rear camera, which in both Pixel 3A turned out to be exactly the same as in the older Pixel 3. Moreover, in some respects cheaper devices even took the lead. In particular, the 3a XL model received a more capacious battery compared to the 3 XL (3700 mAh versus 3430 mAh).
