Revealed release schedule ahead of XFCE 4.14 release

XFCE Lightweight Desktop Environment Release Manager Simon Steinbeiss posted on the project's mailing list the projected release schedule for pre-release and final releases of XFCE version 4.14. The development team will follow the traditional model of releasing a new version: first, three pre-releases will be posted, followed by the final stable build. The graph itself looks like this:

  • May 19: 4.14-pre1

  • June 30: 4.14-pre2

  • July 28: 4.14-pre3 (if it is still not required, then 4.14-final will be presented on this day)

  • August 11: 4.14-final

According to the short task plan for release 4.14, everything is ready: the environment has been completely rewritten in GTK3, taking into account the preservation of compatibility with old xfwm4 themes, rendering through GdkGC has been replaced with cairo, support for XInput2 has been added.

Those wishing to test current builds can run xfce 4.14 from docker container. Feedback is welcome!
