Devuan 3 Beowulf Beta Released

On March 15, a beta version of the distribution was presented Devuan 3 Beowulf, which corresponds Debian 10 Buster.

Devuan is a non-systemd fork of Debian GNU/Linux that "gives the user control of the system by avoiding unnecessary complexity and allowing freedom of choice of init system".

Of the changes:

  • Changed behavior of su. Now the default call does not change the PATH variable. The old behavior now requires calling su -.
  • If there is no sound in PulseAudio, make sure the #autospawn=no line in /etc/pulse/client.conf.d/00-disable-autospawn.conf is commented out.
  • Firefox-ESR no longer requires PulseAudio and can run from ALSA.
