The independent team GameTomo announced the development of a rather cute adventure game Sumire for Steam and Switch during the upcoming Japanese festival Indie Live Expo 2020. Sumire is a narrative game that takes place over the course of one day in a Japanese-style mystical village.
The head of the heroine Sumire is given a list of tasks that the mischievous spirit of the mountain must complete, and this must be dealt with before nightfall. In Japanese, the game is called Sumire no Sora ("Sky of Sumire"), and the genre is properly referred to as ADV. These are story-driven, text-heavy games in which the user controls the character's actions either directly or through text choices. In the West, it would be more like a visual novel.
Sumire is an independent project that does not yet have an exact release date. The developers promise to publish news about the project and . Unfortunately, only English and Japanese localizations have been announced so far.
Here are some additional details from the press release on what's in store for players:
- a variety of bright and beautiful environments, made in a picturesque style;
- collectibles and bonus items, as well as skill tests and other challenges - some hidden, some not;
- a series of large and small tasks that the heroine receives from charming forest creatures, unusual townspeople and according to the plot; they can be taken or refused, but one should be careful: as time decreases, there may no longer be a new chance;
- one day in which the sky changes from dawn to soft dusk, and ends when the sky turns purple.
In the past, GameTomo worked with the GameCrafterTeam to develop a pretty nice mecha game called Project Nimbus. During Indie Live Expo 2020 was sequel called Nimbus Infinity.
