Hideo Baba is best known for producing the Tales of series for Bandai Namco Entertainment. In October 2016, he joined Square Enix and became president of Studio Istolia, which was founded in February 2017, where he worked on a new role-playing game codenamed Project Prelude Rune. In September 2018, it was confirmed for release on the PlayStation 4.

"Along with the changes in Studio Istolia's management policy, I resigned as company president at the end of December 2018 and left Square Enix at the end of March 2019," Hideo Baba said in a press release.
