The Personal Safety app from Google Pixel 4 is now available for the manufacturer's previous smartphones

Personal Safety app version 1.1.286909525 was preinstalled in the first build of Android 11 Developer Preview, but only on the Google Pixel 4. Enthusiasts on the XDA Developers forum managed to extract the app from the device's firmware, and it is now available on some previous Pixel smartphones.

The Personal Safety app has an accident detection mode implemented using a microphone, accelerometer and smartphone location access. If the Pixel thinks you're in an accident, it will make a loud noise, ask you if you need more help, and, if yes or no, it will automatically dial 911 and relay your location to emergency services.

Unfortunately, at the moment the application only works on Google Pixel smartphones and only in the United States. Let's hope it gets much more widespread in the future.
