There are no plans to use an ultra-short flight pattern when launching the Progress MS-12 truck

When launching the Progress MS-12 cargo spacecraft, it is planned to use the classic “slow” scheme, and not the ultra-short one, as is the case with the Progress MS-11 apparatus. This was reported by the online publication RIA Novosti, citing statements by representatives of Roscosmos.

Let us recall that Progress MS-11 for the second time in history reached the International Space Station (ISS) using a two-orbit scheme. This flight takes less than three and a half hours.

In addition, four-orbit and two-day flight patterns are used. The latter is traditionally more reliable and is suitable, among other things, for testing spacecraft systems.

And it is the two-day scheme that is planned to be used during the upcoming launch of the Progress MS-12 truck. The start is scheduled for July 31 this year.

The device will traditionally deliver dry cargo, fuel and water, compressed air and oxygen in cylinders into orbit. In addition, there will be containers with food, clothing, medicine and personal hygiene products for crew members, as well as scientific equipment on board.
