1C Entertainment and 3D Realms have announced that their dark fantasy horror first-person shooter Wrath: Aeon of Ruin, powered by the original Quake engine, is now available
Wrath will offer the first of three non-linear hub worlds and two unlocked levels in Early Access. According to the plot, the player will become an Outlander who previously drifted on the waves of the Eternal Sea, but now finds himself on the shores of a dying world. On behalf of a certain Shepherd of Lost Souls, you must find and destroy the remaining Guardians of the Old World, going into the endless darkness to forgotten secrets and terrible creatures.
The developers promise that the game is not only executed on the legendary Quake 1 engine, but also takes the best elements from such 1990s hits as Doom, Quake, Duke Nukem 3D, Blood, Unreal and Hexen. In addition, the game will receive music by Quake Champions composer Andrew Hulshult. Wrath offers killer weapons and powerful artifacts with which you will cleanse ancient crypts, sunken ruins, desecrated temples and cursed forests from evil.
3D Realms Vice President and Wrath Producer Frederik Schreiber said: βWith 3D Realms, we want to evoke nostalgia for the golden era of games using classic shooter engines, but with a modern twist. With the incredible Quake engine as our guiding light, and KillPixel developer Jeremiah Fox at the helm, shooter fans are in for an exciting ride."
