CPU cooler be quiet! Shadow Rock 3 is ready to go on sale

Back in early January, the German brand be quiet! demonstrated Shadow Rock 3 CPU cooler capable of dissipating up to 190W of thermal energy. Now the novelty is preparing to go on sale for about $50, and the manufacturer shares its detailed images.

Company underlines, which significantly revised the layout solutions compared to the Shadow Rock 2 cooler. At least, we had to switch from a symmetrical arrangement of the radiator fins relative to the base to an asymmetric one. The radiator is now shifted towards the rear wall of the system unit so as not to block the space above the memory modules. Naturally, this limits the freedom of orientation when installing a heatsink on the motherboard, but then there are no problems with access to RAM modules.

The manufacturer abandoned heat pipes with a diameter of 8 mm in favor of pipes with a diameter of 6 mm, at the same time increasing their number from four to five, and also implementing direct contact between heat pipes and the processor heat spreader cover. The 2mm Shadow Wings 120 fan mounts to the heatsink with a thin metal bracket, and an additional fan can be mounted on the opposite side of the heatsink. At the maximum speed (1600 rpm) the fan emits no more than 24,4 dB(A), the rotation speed is controlled by the method of pulse-width modulation.

The overall dimensions of the cooler assembly with a fan are 121 Γ— 130 Γ— 163 mm, and the weight was reduced from 1120 to 714 g by reducing the number of aluminum radiator fins from 51 to 30 pieces. The distance between the ribs has increased, which allows air to be pumped between them with less resistance.

The cooler is capable of dissipating up to 190 W of thermal power, but it is not compatible with Socket TR4 and sTRX4 processor sockets. The fasteners are fixed through a hole in the top cover of the radiator, a hole for a screwdriver is provided in all ribs, the screwdriver itself is attached to the cooler. The most interesting thing is that be quiet! openly speaks about the compatibility of the mounting system with the LGA 1200 socket, in which future Intel processors will be installed. There is nothing special about this, the LGA 1200 is the same as the LGA 1151 in terms of the type of radiator mounts. Be quiet! Shadow Rock 3 will arrive on March 50rd for €50 or $XNUMX, depending on the region.
