Sellers from Russia will now be able to trade on the AliExpress platform

The AliExpress trading platform, owned by the Chinese Internet giant Alibaba, is now open for work not only for companies from China, but also for Russian retailers, as well as sellers from Turkey, Italy and Spain. Trudy Dai, president of Alibaba's wholesale markets division, said this in an interview with the Financial Times.

Currently, the AliExpress platform provides the opportunity to sell goods in more than 150 countries around the world.

“From the very first day Alibaba was created, we dreamed of global reach,” said Trudy Dye. She noted that in the future the company plans to provide access to trade on the platform for retailers from a larger number of countries. “This is the first year for our local to global strategy,” said Trudy Dye. “This strategy is closely linked to Alibaba’s broader business globalization strategy.”

According to Dai, a large number of retailers from four countries have already registered on the platform. AliExpress reportedly became one of the leaders among Alibaba divisions in terms of revenue growth in fiscal 2018, increasing revenue by 94%.
