Personal computer sales continue to fall

The global market for personal computers is declining. This is evidenced by the results of a study conducted by analysts at the International Data Corporation (IDC).

The data presented includes shipments of traditional desktops, laptops and workstations. Tablets and servers with x86 architecture are not taken into consideration.

So, it is reported that in the first quarter of this year, PC shipments amounted to approximately 58,5 million units. This is 3,0% less than the result of the first quarter of 2018, when the market volume was estimated at 60,3 million units.

Based on the results of the last quarter, HP took the leading position with 13,6 million computers sold and a share of 23,2%. Lenovo is in second place with 13,4 million PCs shipped and 23,0% of the market. Dell shipped 10,4 million computers, taking 17,7% of the market.

Apple is in fourth place: the "apple" empire sold about 4,1 million computers in three months, which corresponds to 6,9%. Closes the top five Acer Group with 3,6 million PCs delivered and a share of 6,1%.

Analysts of Gartner also speak about reduction of the computer market: according to their estimates, quarterly shipments decreased year on year by 4,6%. At the same time, the final result corresponds to IDC data - 58,5 million units.
