The Yandex company, according to the Vedomosti newspaper, for the first time disclosed information on the amount of revenue from the sale of its own gadgets.
We are talking about devices such as smart speaker ""and smartphone"β, as well as some other products with the intelligent voice assistant βAlisaβ, created together with partners.
It is reported that in the first quarter of this year, gadget sales brought the Russian IT giant an income of approximately 222 million rubles. However, this line of business is still unprofitable: its negative contribution to EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes and depreciation) is 170 million rubles.
It should be noted that the demand for the mentioned device "Yandex.Telephone", according to available data, is low. For example, in December the company was able to sell only about 400 of these smartphones through retail chains. In order to stimulate sales, the cost of the device last month was by almost a quarter - from 17 rubles to 990 rubles.
We add that in the last quarter, the consolidated revenue of Yandex increased by 2018% compared to the same indicator for the first quarter of 40, to 37,3 billion rubles. Net profit amounted to 3,1 billion rubles.
