The Debian project has released a distribution for schools - Debian-Edu 10

Prepared release of the educational-oriented distribution of Debian Edu 10, also known as skolelinux. The distribution kit contains a set of tools integrated into one installation image for the rapid deployment of both servers and workstations in schools, while stationary workstations in computer labs and portable systems are supported. Prepared for download assemblies size 404 MB ΠΈ 5.3 GB.

Debian Edu is adapted out of the box to organize computer classes based on diskless workstations and thin clients that boot over the network. The distribution provides several types of desktop environments that allow you to use Debian Edu on both the latest PCs and legacy hardware. You can choose from working environments based on KDE Plasma, GNOME, LXDE, LXQt, MATE and Xfce. The basic package contains more than 60 training packages.

Main innovations:

  • Switching to the Debian 10 "Buster" package base;
  • Install images are now distributed by the Debian project rather than through third party servers;
