The GNOME project has launched an application web directory

The developers of the GNOME project have unveiled a new apps.gnome.org directory of applications, which offers a selection of the best applications built in accordance with the philosophy of the GNOME community and seamlessly integrate with the desktop. There are three sections: Core Applications, Additional Community Applications developed by the GNOME Circle Initiative, and Developer Applications. The catalog also offers mobile applications created using GNOME technologies, which are placed in the lists with a special icon.

Features of the catalog include:

  • Orientation to involve users in the development process by sending feedback, participating in the translation of the interface into different languages and providing financial support.
  • Availability of translations of descriptions for a large number of languages, including Russian, Belarusian and Ukrainian.
  • Providing up-to-date versioning information based on the metadata used by GNOME Software and Flathub.
  • The ability to host applications that are not in the Flathub catalog (for example, applications from the base distribution).
