The Pine64 open source community has announced the start of production next year of a new PineTab2 tablet PC based on the Rockchip RK3566 SoC with a quad-core ARM Cortex-A55 (1.8 GHz) processor and an ARM Mali-G52 EE GPU. The cost and time of going on sale have not yet been determined, it is only known that the first copies for testing by developers will begin to be produced after the Chinese New Year (January 22). Like the first PineTab model, the new tablet is equipped with a 10.1-inch screen (IPS) and comes with a detachable keyboard that allows you to use the device as a regular laptop. The parameters of the cameras have also been preserved: rear 5MP, 1/4″ (LED Flash) and front 2MP (f/2.8, 1/5″), as well as the characteristics of the battery (6000 mAh). Depending on the configuration, the amount of RAM will be 4 or 8 GB, and the permanent memory (eMMC flash) will be 64 or 128 GB (for comparison, the first PineTab came with 2 GB of RAM and 64 GB of Flash). Of the connectors, the presence of two USB-C ports (USB 3.0 and USB 2.0), micro HDMI, microSD and a 3.5mm headphone jack are mentioned.

In the first PineTab, Ubuntu Touch from the UBport project was supplied by default, and images with Manjaro Linux, PostmarketOS, Arch Linux ARM, Mobian and Sailfish OS were additionally offered as options.
