The rdesktop project needs a new maintainer

rdesktop is an open source UNIX client designed to connect to Windows Remote Desktop Services.

The only maintainer of the project recently was Cendio, since rdesktop was a key component in their commercial product. However, the company decided to focus on Linux desktops, as a result of which it was no longer practical to support rdesktop for them.

An announcement about the search for new escorts was published on November 25, but probably went unnoticed and no one willing to take up the escort baton appeared.

However, Cendio remains hopeful of finding new maintainers and, instead of quietly abandoning support, they sent out targeted emails to package maintainers on GNU/Linux distributions (Debian, ArchLinux, Gentoo, openSUSE, etc.).

Hi,

I'm writing to you guys because you are involved in maintaining the
rdesktop packaging in various distribution. We are here at Cendio are
stepping down as maintainers of upstream rdesktop:

Unfortunately we are the only maintainers, so the project needs a
replacement.

Would you guys be willing to fill that role? Or do you know of anyone
else that might?

We'd like to make sure the users aren't abandoned and that someone can
continue maintaining this project.
