MediaTek has announced the Helio G80 processor, designed for use in relatively inexpensive smartphones with gaming functionality.
The chip has an eight-core configuration. It, in particular, contains two ARM Cortex-A75 cores clocked at up to 2,0 GHz and six ARM Cortex-A55 cores clocked at up to 1,8 GHz.
The graphics subsystem includes an ARM Mali-G52 MC2 accelerator. Supports Full HD+ displays with refresh rates up to 60Hz.
The platform provides support for Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11ac wireless communications, as well as GPS, GLONASS, Beidou and Galileo satellite navigation systems.
Developers of smartphones based on the Helio G80 will be able to equip their devices with cameras with a resolution of up to 48 million pixels. In addition, it talks about support for dual cameras with 16 million pixels sensors.
Processor production is entrusted to TSMC - Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company. FinFET technology will be used in manufacturing. Production standards - 12 nanometers.
