Let us recall the configuration of the Snapdragon 855: these are eight Kryo 485 cores with a clock frequency of 1,80 GHz to 2,84 GHz and an Adreno 640 graphics accelerator. Work with LPDDR4X RAM is supported. Production standards are 7 nanometers.

Information about the future flagship Snapdragon 865 processor was spread by the editor of the WinFuture website Roland Quandt, known as a source of reliable leaks.

According to him, the chip has the code name Kona and the engineering designation SM8250 (the Snapdragon 855 solution has an internal code SM8150).

One of the features of the Snapdragon 865, as noted, will be support for LPDDR5 RAM. LPDDR5 solutions provide data transfer rates of up to 6400 Mbps. This is approximately one and a half times more compared to modern LPDDR4X chips (4266 Mbit/s).

It is not yet entirely clear whether the Snapdragon 865 processor will receive an integrated 5G modem. There is a possibility that, as in the case of the Snapdragon 855, the corresponding module will be made as a separate component.

The announcement of Snapdragon 865 will take place no earlier than the end of this year. The first commercial devices on the new platform will appear in 2020.
