Transparent Btrfs compression with Zstd by default on Fedora 34

We are talking about the future release of Fedora 34, which should appear at the end of April. In addition to saving disk space, transparent data compression is also designed to reduce wear and tear on SSDs and other flash drives. In addition, performance gains are expected for reading and writing.


Using transparent compression will also affect the operation of some utilities, such as du, since the file size can be significantly different from the disk space it takes up. As an alternative, utilities like compsize.
