Studio Double Fine Productions at E3 2019 presented a new trailer for Psychonauts 2 - a three-dimensional adventure platformer, which is created according to the canons of the original game. There was no release date in the video, and a little later received a press release that the sequel has been delayed until 2020. The developers did not indicate the reasons for such a decision.
At E3 2019, Microsoft announced the acquisition of Double Fine. Probably, the authors received additional financial injections and the opportunity to finish Psychonauts 2 without haste. Many fans of the first part, which was released back in 2005, are waiting for the game.
The plot of the continuation will tell how the Psychonauts organization was headed by another leader, taking advantage of the absence of the main characters of the first part. He abandoned peacekeeping goals and began to conduct forbidden research, including the study of necromancy. Familiar characters are called to understand the situation - Raz, Sasha Nine and the rest of the company.
With the release on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, the game will also appear in the Xbox Game Pass library.
