Purism has announced the first pre-order shipments of free Librem 5 smartphones. The first shipment will begin on September 24 this year.
Librem 5 is a project to create a smartphone with completely open and free software and hardware that allows you to maintain user privacy. It ships with PureOS, a GNU/Linux distribution approved by the Free Software Foundation (FSF). One of the key declared features of this product is the presence of hardware switches for the camera, microphone and radio modules.
