The launch platform of the Sea Launch spaceport has arrived at the port of Slavyanka in the Far East. This was announced by Dmitry Rogozin, CEO of the state corporation Roscosmos.
We are talking about the Sea Launch project, which was developed back in the early 1990s. The idea was to create a floating rocket and space complex capable of providing the most favorable conditions for carrier launches.
Until recently, the complex was based in the United States. In April 2018, the acquisition of Sea Launch by S7 Group was completed. In February of this year, the process of transferring Sea Launch from the American port of Long Beach in California to the Slavyansky Shipyard in Primorye began.
In particular, not so long ago, the assembly and command vessel of the Sea Launch floating cosmodrome arrived in Russia. Now the launch platform has been delivered to our country.
“We need such migrants: the launch platform of the Sea Launch spaceport has arrived at the port of Slavyanka in the Far East. The cyclopean structure successfully crossed the Pacific Ocean,” said Mr. Rogozin.
We add that in the coming years, S7 Group plans to resume the launch activities of the platform.
